This year we’ll be in Hawaii (!!!) for Passover and Easter. Yup, you’ll be seeing more hula dances than bunnies and Seder plates at Donuts at the Disco this April. But this spring loving mama is still keeping tabs on the fun spring happenings in our area. Here are some of the events I am most bummed about missing (in chronological order).Read More
Spring has sprung. But that does not mean just blue skies and sun from here on out. Nope, we may still be freezing for a few months. And even once higher temps do arrive, there will still be rainy days to contend with. In preparation for the next cold, rainy, gloomy day, here now in one place are all of my past indoor activity posts. I will continually update this as we explore more of the indoors!Read More
Cold out? Kids off from school? Valentines Day around the corner? I have an idea for you. Bring them to Chocolate Works, where they can make and decorate their own adorable chocolate molds. It’ll be fun AND you can call it their Valentines Day gift!
Note: This post is about Chocolate Works in Darien, CT. Chocolate Works is a national chain and some or all of the below may apply globally but I have only visited the Darien location.Read More
I only learned recently that PEZ Candies are made less than an hour from my house! Not only that, but there’s a PEZ Visitor Center with fun goings on less than an hour from my house! The good news for me is that I don’t eat candies that aren’t made of chocolate. The bad news for me is that the same does not apply to my kids. They love PEZ and so, off we went recently to check out the PEZ Visitor Center in Orange, CT.Read More

December is a very busy month. No matter what holiday or holidays you celebrate, there’s always shopping, cooking, wrapping and decorating to do. Then there’s usually more shopping.

I’ve never been to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in person. I’ve watched it on TV countless times but I’ve never been brave enough to battle the crowds and elements to actually get there. I’m hoping to change this fact as my kids get older but for now, I feel really lucky to have a pretty awesome alternative nearby.
Each November, Downtown Stamford, CT transforms into a beautiful celebration of the upcoming holiday season by putting on one of the largest helium balloon parades in the entire country. And that’s only a part of what happens.Read More
Now that I have kids, Halloween might be my favorite holiday. No, I'm not one of those old folks who still loves to get dressed up. But I think it is so much fun watching the kiddies get so excited to pick their costumes and later, to run around like crazy persons in pursuit of free candy. As they get a bit older, it'll be cool to add some haunted houses to our Halloween rotation. Gotta take it all in before they learn that Halloween means sexy costumes and keg stands.
On that note, here are some do not miss Halloween celebrations happening in the tri-state area!Read More
We recently carted the kids to a brewery about 75 minutes away. I think you should, too! Kent Falls Brewing Co. is an “American Farm Brewery.” Loosely translated, Kent Falls was a farm before it was a brewery and today, it’s both a working farm and a working brewery. The brewery part opened about three years ago and the whole thing is located in picturesque Litchfield County, CT.Read More
