Where do I begin? Paris? South Africa? Tokyo? Ok, I’d love to go a lot of places without kids but a list of achievable goals might be more useful. It’s not surprising that these choices mostly include alcohol.
As a person who likes to explore and eat and drink and travel AND who does enjoy SOMETIMES including my kids in the foregoing, I keep a fairly updated mental list of cool events and places to hit with my kiddies. It’s my job as a mom, no? Here are 5 things I’d like to do this summer with my family.
We spent Memorial Day this year in Austin, TX. It’s no secret that Austin is HOT - in every sense of the word.
Average highs in late May for Austin teeter around 88°. During our trip, it was consistently 95-98°. It was HOT. But Texas is no stranger to heat, so there is ample shade in most places and locals know how best to stay comfortable. Car seats in Austin often come with seat coolers - this Northeasterner didn’t even know that was a “thing.” Due to the extreme heat, we didn’t do as much exploring as we otherwise would have, but our long weekend was still tons of fun.
My first post on kid friendly dining had to be based in Port Chester. The food scene in Port Chester is immeasurably tastier AND far more conducive to dining with minors than in neighboring towns. We visit often with our kids for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Expect to see a lot of PC on this blog. To start, here’s a really great way to spend a summer night with your kids.
