I only learned recently that PEZ Candies are made less than an hour from my house! Not only that, but there’s a PEZ Visitor Center with fun goings on less than an hour from my house! The good news for me is that I don’t eat candies that aren’t made of chocolate. The bad news for me is that the same does not apply to my kids. They love PEZ and so, off we went recently to check out the PEZ Visitor Center in Orange, CT.Read More
The holidays are over. The presents unwrapped. The new toys are already feeling old to the kids. And school doesn’t start up again until January. What do we do NOW?
This post is for the folks who can no longer make it up past midnight on New Years Eve because they’ve BEEN UP since 6am catering to their little ones’ every need. Here are FIVE ways to entertain your youngins this New Years!Read More
December is a very busy month. No matter what holiday or holidays you celebrate, there’s always shopping, cooking, wrapping and decorating to do. Then there’s usually more shopping.
But in between all of your holiday chores this year, spend some time celebrating the season by checking out some of these awesome holiday events happening locally in Westchester County and Fairfield County. There’s so much to pick from, but these are my favorites.Read More
Now that I have kids, Halloween might be my favorite holiday. No, I'm not one of those old folks who still loves to get dressed up. But I think it is so much fun watching the kiddies get so excited to pick their costumes and later, to run around like crazy persons in pursuit of free candy. As they get a bit older, it'll be cool to add some haunted houses to our Halloween rotation. Gotta take it all in before they learn that Halloween means sexy costumes and keg stands.
On that note, here are some do not miss Halloween celebrations happening in the tri-state area!Read More
We took our girls on their first trip to Disney last February. I started planning that trip about EIGHT MONTHS in advance and over that time, I became somewhat of a Disney expert and obsessive. There is a lot to know before you head to Disney. And while I’m the kind of person who does research before a trip to the dentist, I would NOT advise that anyone, even the largest of procrastinators, just “wing it” at Disney.
It truly is magical to take your little ones to Disney. It’s also truly stressful. You will set alarms. You will wait on lines. You will push through crowds to get places. You will battle your cranky, overtired kids. You will probably also cry yourself. And yet I can’t wait to go back!!Read More
The summer always flies by. One minute you’re drinking piña coladas by the pool, the next minute camp is over, "Back to School" merch is appearing in stores and your kids are telling you what they want to be for Halloween.
Then September hits and the temps are still high and the calendar still says it's summer, but you're also seeing apple picking and Pumpkin Spice Lattes in the mix. It's all so confusing!
Never fear! I’m here to help. Here are 5 cute ways to ring in early fall!Read More
Mecha Noodle Bar is tasty and kid friendly. And lucky for me, my particular kids really like rice and noodles (mostly plain rice and plain noodles, but I take what I can get). So a visit to Mecha works for the whole family.
What began in 2013 in Fairfield as a spin off restaurant to Danbury’s Pho Vietnam, Mecha is now a Fairfield County “mini-chain” with locations in Fairfield, South Norwalk and New Haven. Mecha mixes Restaurateur Tony Pham’s Vietnamese heritage (pho!) with Japanese ramen and other Asian street foods like dumplings and bao. And it does this in happening, relaxed spaces with cool music in the background and super friendly servers who go out of their way to make sure you’re having a good time.Read More
Industry City is a waterfront industrial complex in the Sunset Park neighborhood of Brooklyn that’s home to an eclectic mix of shops, restaurants, artisans, offices and warehouses. What was once a long time ago a manufacturing and shipping complex called Bush Terminal (no relation to the Bush political family), Industry City has seen a full scale renovation and modernization in the past six years at the hands of the same developers who turned the Nabisco Factory into what is now Chelsea Market.
We didn’t know what to expect for our visit, particularly since Sunset Park is a bit past the parts of Brooklyn that have seen a huge influx of recent development. We were VERY pleasantly surprised - a summer Saturday spent at Industry City is a blast!Read More
Our friendly weather people told us it was going to rain last Sunday (it ended up being a nice day). So we suited the girls up in sneakers and jeans and visited the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum on 91st and Fifth. Right now, the Museum has several interactive exhibits appropriate for the younger set of museum goers.Read More
I’m a city girl at heart and for a small city in CT, Norwalk packs a lot of punch. Every local parent owes some of his or her sanity to Stepping Stones Museum and the Maritime Aquarium - two spots in South Norwalk (aka SoNo), a fantastic neighborhood to walk around and eat and drink your way through.
Some of the best food in Fairfield County is in Norwalk - I can rattle off a dozen places in Norwalk that are far better than what we have in Greenwich. Here's one Norwalk eating experience that will satisfy your entire family this summer.Read More
We recently carted the kids to a brewery about 75 minutes away. I think you should, too! Kent Falls Brewing Co. is an “American Farm Brewery.” Loosely translated, Kent Falls was a farm before it was a brewery and today, it’s both a working farm and a working brewery. The brewery part opened about three years ago and the whole thing is located in picturesque Litchfield County, CT.Read More
